Those are sectors the disk wants to reallocate, but hasn’t been able to for some reason. Unfortunately I don't have the room to back them if anything goes wrong. They are important, but not critical data. If errors still occur when reading some sector, the hard drive will try to restore the data, transfer it to the reserved disk area (spare area) and mark this sector as remapped. Later, when some of these sectors are read successfully, the value is decreased. The raw value of this attribute indicates the total number of sectors waiting for remapping. parameter is a critical parameter and indicates the current count of unstable sectors (waiting for remapping). If this disk is used to store data I want to keep, I'd be replacing it.Ĭurrent Pending Sector Count S.M.A.R.T. Should I open CrystalDiskInfo more frequently to check on this drive when it's connected? I backed everything up important on there. My other drives in the system have over 22k hours and they are newer. It has so many power on counts because it turns itself off if it's not being used. The drive is older but it really doesn't have that many hours on it. It also has no checksums to tell if there is bitrot.Īppreciate the input. But with the age of this drive reaching end of life Id make sure backups are good.Ĭheck disk also isn't perfect, and can't tell if a drive has corrupted data, only if the mft is correctly pointing to data with a quick check. A bad sector can be normal, but crystal disk mark seems to show them as warning.
